HONDA CIVIC TYPE R FROM $72,600

As with its immediate predecessor, Honda’s sixth generation Civic Type R sits on the front row of the hot hatch grid, with Hyundai’s i30N and the VW Golf R.

The Honda, though, is now the most expensive of the trio by a big margin. At $72,600 drive away, it’s almost $20,000 pricier than the previous model, $26,400 more than the Hyundai, and $3610 more than the Golf.

Its predecessor clocked 6.2 seconds on our timing equipment. Honda claims 5.4 seconds
