Wild Scandinavia

REPARE TO DISCOVER THE NORDIC region as never before, with this new three-parter for BBC Two. Narrated by actor Rebecca celebrates the northernmost reaches of Europe – Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland – immersing viewers not only in the spectacular wildlife and landscapes of the region, but also in the lives of modern Scandinavian people. The journey begins with a tour of the coast, from the Baltic Sea to the wild Atlantic Ocean via the iconic Norwegian fjords; then on into its forested heartlands; and finally to its extremes – volcanic Iceland, the high tundra and Arctic Svalbard, where only the best-adapted can survive. “We were keen to show the icons of Scandinavia, from orcas in the fjords to elusive lynx in the Swedish forests, but also the quirks – like flamboyant ruffs on the Arctic tundra and wolf spiders that survive bitter winters by hunting in hot springs,” says series producer Tuppence Stone. “I hope viewers feel visually connected to this incredible area, which is so close to the UK, yet still very wild.”
