“At least 70 million people in the U.S. are overweight, and heart and blood-vessel diseases take 1 million said. Today, 73.6 percent of U.S. adults are overweight according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Trilliant Health reported a 300 percent increase in quarterly prescriptions of semaglutide medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy, which are used in diabetes treatment, from 2020 to the end of 2022. This year, nearly 1.7 percent of people in the U.S. have been prescribed similar medications, according to Epic Research.
