There will be a few big changes on the grid for the FIA World Endurance Championship for 2024, one of which will be the lack of LMP2 cars for the first time since the series was launched in 2012. That is a loss for the series, but also posed a threat to the participation of tyre manufacturer Goodyear, the sole supplier to the category.
However, the American rubber giant made the successful transition from LMP2 to GT3 for next year, having seen off some stiff opposition, notably from Michelin, which supplies the Hypercar field, to win the contract to supply the GT3 field in the series. Having done so, the company undertook a complete development programme that finished at the tail end of 2023 with final sign off of its first slick tyre, with a second to be introduced later in 2024.
