JANE TANGNEY IS A CAUTIOUS PERSON. “I’m normally very calculated,” she says. “I’m ordered.” But it was an uncharacteristic leap of faith that led to her and partner, Graeme Boyle, buying a house together.

The moment came in the early 2000s when Jane was working as an artist and graphic designer in Fremantle. She and Graeme had only just started going out again, after dating briefly when they were younger. Things were going so well that Graeme felt bold enough to float an audacious idea.
