If you had to picture a classic Melbourne sharehouse, it would probably look something like this Collingwood converted warehouse: rundown, host to a rotating door of friends, and full of creative energy.

Set among numerous new apartment developments in the inner-northern suburb, the red-brick warehouse on a laneway near Smith Street feels like one of the few ‘old Collingwood’ places left standing. While no-one knows too much about the building’s history, rumours are the three-storey property, built around 1930, was once a hostel, then later a bit of a band hangout.
