Jorvik on the Ouse – whisky winner

very much enjoyed your article on the restoration of the motor yacht . Not too long after her launch I was starting to learn to sail on the river Ouse, initially in a canoe and small pram dinghy and later graduating (christened from the Viking name for the city of York), was a familiar site with her ‘naval profile’, weaving among the National 12s and Fireflies. I would however like to correct some inaccuracies; was never kept in Naburn Marina (actually called York Marina) as it was not constructed until many years later; also there was no such club as The Naburn Yacht Club. Mr Ingle was, in fact commodore of the York Motor Boat Club and was kept on the club’s moorings at Fulford, a district of York. The last time I saw was in 2018 in Hull Marina and she looked to be superficially in good order; appearances were obviously deceptive!
