Q: I purchased this cookie jar at a church thrift store. The lady who donated just happened to be there. She said she thought it was at least 75 years old. It belonged to her mother before her. It is porcelain and has the correct markings and height for an original. She has an open basket and gold stars on her apron.

A: The Hull Pottery was established in 1905 in Crooksville, Ohio. Although the company initially produced stoneware and semi-porcelain wares, it began producing artware in 1917. In 1943, Hull hit the jackpot with its “Red Riding Hood” line, starting with the Red Riding Hood cookie jar and expanding into butter dishes, salt and pepper sets, a big bad wolf grease jar, and more.
