SOPHIE’S SCREW UP
No-one has been spared in author Omid Scobie’s latest book Endgame, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Referencing alleged remarks made by Sophie following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Omid claimed the Edinburghs could be regarded as “casually bigoted”.
Days after the explosive sit-down aired, Edward and Sophie jokingly replied to the“Oprah who?” and “what interview?” when asked if they’d tuned in. Omid has since levelled allegations of bigotry at the pair, saying that “comments about the world’s most successful Black woman and one of the biggest faces in entertainment made them seem stuffy or tin-eared at best, and casually bigoted at worst.”
