GRIFF - CAULFIELD CUP WINNER

Griff, despite shying badly near the finish, won the time-honoured Caulfield Guineas in something of a shock result. The Caulfield Guineas, for better or worse, has become known as a sire making race so the rather unheralded colt has assured himself of a future in the breeding barn no matter what he does in the rest of his career. He was an $80,000 yearling at the Inglis Premier Sale when knocked down to Kavanagh Racing.

The colt had his first start as Gosford on 23 March this year. He finished fifth of the nine runners in the 2yo Maiden over 1200m, in a race quinellaed by the James Cumming trained pair of Zardozi and Restonica.
