Living History

Michelle Taylor grew up traveling and learning about history. Her mother carted her along to libraries in search of their family story. Together, they traced their roots from Taylor’s hometown of Detroit to Henderson, Ky., and to Montpelier, the Virginia home of US president James Madison.

By the time she began studying anthropology at Virginia Commonwealth University, Taylor was already deeply passionate about family history.
