Grits Pudding with Fruit Compote
MAKES 4 SERVINGS
1½ cups half-and-half
1¼ cups water
3 tablespoons sugar
2 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
½ vanilla bean, split lengthwise, seeds scraped and reserved
½ cup quick-cooking grits
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
