T WAS an Irish invasion for the final St Andrew’s Sporting Club event of the year on Thursday night, as Jamie Conlan took his place on the top table while one of his, opened the show. Proudly bearing the rings emblem on his ribs, the Lisburn lad showed his Olympic pedigree throughout – avoiding ’s shots then punishing him with counters. By the second half of the fight, the Belgian had run out of ideas and resorted to spoiling tactics before taking a beating in the last two rounds. His grit and resilience allowed him to hear the final bell before Walker was named as the 80-72 victor.
