Light headed

I’m in the process of buying myself a helmet. With my safety in mind, I’d like a white helmet.

After doing the rounds of the bike shops, I’ve noticed that roughly 80 percent of helmets I’ve looked at are either black or dark coloured. Thumbing through AMCN’s latest issue, I see most new bikes and a good portion of the accessories are also predominantly black. For the life of me, I cannot see the manufacturers’ nor most buyers’ fascination with black! Why are motorcycle manufacturers and motorcycle accessory makers forcing buyers to buy black, or dark-coloured products?

Roughly 50 years ago, when I began riding bikes, all riders were being persuaded to wear bright colours thus making the rider easier to see, thus avoiding a painful incident/accident because they weren’t seen. Most motorcycles of the day were painted a colourful colour other than black.
