FORDSONS ARE FAVOURITE

David Filby’s work as an agricultural engineer is based in Pakenham, Suffolk. “My interest in tractors was fired by going to work with my dad when he worked for Watton Produce as a tractor driver,” he says. David now has a collection of several vintage tractors which he uses on a farm and takes to road runs and to ploughing matches.

First Fergie

When David was only two years old, his father, Robin, bought a 1952 TEF-20 Grey Ferguson diesel. He was initially looking for a diesel tractor to restore andsomeone’s garden in a hedge in Fersfield near Diss and was in a non-running condition. Robin and David’s uncle towed the tractor home behind the family car and once home, it promptly seized up. “He spent all his savings on buying it and then spent two years of evenings and weekends restoring it,” says David.
