TWO OF A KIND

The Turkishowned cargo ship Manioglu was built by Neptun Werft at Rostock in 1913 as Arcturus for Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft Argo of Bremen, being delivered in January 1914. Arcturus was in Bordeaux when Germany declared war against France on 3 August 1914, and she was immediately seized by the French Government.

In January 1922 she was transferred to Compagnie de Navigation Paquet (Paquet) of Marseille as compensation for losses suffered during the war. In October 1923, after the conclusion of the Turkish war of independence on 24 July
