Fans of US pop star Taylor Swift (pictured), known as Swifties, are rallying against Javier Milei, “a hard-right candidate with a rock star image” in the run-off to become Argentina’s next president, says Harriet Barber in The Sunday Times. They accuse Milei outside the Estadio Mâs Monumental, the stadium in the capital where Swift was playing earlier this month. And while the singer has not personally commented on the election, the Buenos Aires legislature voted to name her as a guest of honour last week. Only officials from Milei’s Freedom Advances party voted against the measure. Milei, a relative outsider, had galvanised support, particularly among young men, to finish in second place after the first round of voting. Swifties can express “what they want”, Milei said.
