Bowers & Wilkins 606 and 607 S3 speaker package £2496
Since this speaker package comprises two pairs of five-star speakers, you probably won’t be surprised to find out that it sounds good. Really good.
Starting with the main players in this system we have the B&W 606 S3 stereo speakers. At 34 x 19 x 30cm, the 606 S3 are much more compact and less likely to dominate your room than some rivals, although you will have to factor in space for stands. Inside the 606 S3 you will find a two-way vented design with a 25mm dome tweeter and 16.5cm cone driver. There’s a new titanium-dome tweeter accompanying the mid and bass driver comprising B&W’s Continuum cone material. B&W has switched to titanium from aluminium to ‘improve resolution and refinement in the high frequencies’.
The 607 S3 are smaller across the board at 30 x 17 x 21cm (hwd). The 607 S3 features a similar internal arrangement as the 606 S3, althoughbass driver is smaller at 13cm. The HTM6 centre channel is robust and compact at just 16 x 48 x 26cm (hwd), and is a two-way vented design with a titanium-dome tweeter (25mm) and two Continuum cone mid/bass drivers (13cm). Rounding things off we have the ASW610 subwoofer which is, you guessed it, compact at 32cm x 31cm x 35cm (including feet). The ASW610 is a powered subwoofer with a 25cm paper and aramid-fibre cone long-throw driver powered by 200W of Class D amplification.
