New ‘OO’ steel carriers announced by Cavalex Models

POWELL DUFFRYN PXA steel coil carriers and the related Tiphook Rail JXA bogie box wagons are the latest steel carrying wagons to be announced by Cavalex Models. First built in 1986, the 54 Powell Duffryn steel coil carriers supplemented a fleet of leased wagons operated on traffic originating from South Wales.

The PXAs were of heavy construction, mounted on GPS25 bogies and fitted with flexible covers to protect the load. They were widely used in block trains, some of them quite short, and mixed with other covered steel carrying wagons.
