Every visit, I’d look at his collection of snaps with players from Jack Charlton to Paul Gascoigne, back when he’d been a referee.
He refereed matches with teams like Manchester United and Tottenham, with 60,000 people watching in the stadium.
And throughout his career he met celebrities – Elton John, even Princess Diana.
