Apple iPhone 15 family

The iPhone 15 range has landed, and we’ve had a few weeks to test them. Our aim here is to explain what’s new and interesting about the phones, accompanied by a mini review of each on the final page.

As ever, the rumour mill was in overdrive before the phones’ launch, and some were disappointed that the iPhone 15 Ultra never made it into reality. Instead, the lineup is identical to previous years: the compact iPhone 15 and its larger but otherwise identical brother, the iPhone 15 Plus. Or you can opt for the Pro range, with the Pro Max sitting at the summit in terms of features thanks to its 5x optical zoom.

Normal vs Pro

We’ll start at the top with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, as this is the first new iPhone we’ve picked up in a long time that made us say “whoa!”. That’s thanks to a new titanium design that makes this big 6.7in flagship (and the 6.1in iPhone 15 Pro) wonderfully light. Apple also trims the bezels to make the phone shorter and narrower, resulting in a big-screen beast that doesn’t feel that big.
