Bevan wins top award

COLOGNE, GERMANY

WELSH light-heavyweight Taylor Bevan was rewarded for the Best Fighting Performance at the Cologne Boxing Cup.

The six-day event, which ran from October 27 to November 1, was the first organised by World Boxing, the new governing body set up to help secure the sport’s Olympic future after the IOC banned IBA from running qualifying tournaments.

The latest statement from the IOC said boxing’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is “on hold.”
