Up the garden path
Welcome one and all to your home with an elegant dusting of fairy lights – solar lights can be trailed over the porch awning, draped through tree branches and positioned along paths without the need for mains power. “You could also use existing potted plants, turning them into mini trees with a few hardy decorations,” says stylist Tilly Roberts. “Simple things can be made Christmassy, like some gold bells on twine over a rosemary plant.”
MAKE AN ENTRANCE
Greeting guests with a fully decorated tree in the hallway, or a Christmas vignette on a hall table, is a gorgeous way to set a festive mood. If you’re short on space, try creating a miniature moment with a sculptural branch, hung with small decorations. “You could display an advent calendar – buy or make a material one and fill it with notes and bits and bobs,” says Tilly. “Or use paper bags with numbers written on.”
