Meissen Earns its Royal Treatment

Meissen is literally fit for a king, and we have Augustus the Strong to thank for this beautiful porcelain.

To say the 18th-century king loved porcelain is an understatement. Pursuing his passion, he spent vast sums to acquire 20,000 pieces of Japanese and Chinese ceramics. These, along with examples of early Meissen, comprise the , or porcelain collection, of the Zwinger Palace in Dresden.
