Queen Elizabeth II centenary commemoration

Our late Queen, Elizabeth II, will be honoured with a national memorial in 2026 in what would have been her centenary year.

A special Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee has been set up, that will consider proposals for both a permanent memorial to Her Majesty and a national legacy programme. The committee will be chaired by one of the Queen’s most trusted aides, Lord Janvrin.

Previous monarchs have been remembered in iconic buildings such as the Royal Albert Hall, and the enormous white marble monument of Queen Victoria outside Buckingham Palace. There have also been so-called ‘living memorials’ for past monarchs, such as funding raised
