TCM Guest Programmer: Jonathan Scott

Jonathan Scott, one of HGTV’s Property Brothers (with twin Drew), takes over TCM tonight and chooses the films on the lineup—two with astonishing personal connections. Late in the 1975 thriller —starring George Segal (left) as a disgraced Canadian police officer mixed up in a KGB conspiracy—you, with Warren Beatty’s reporter investigating a string of assassinations that lead back to a frightening secret organization. It was, he tells host Ben Mankiewicz, a title he screened with his nowfiancée, Zooey Deschanel (). Last is Hal Ashby’s 1979 character piece . Peter Sellers brilliantly plays against type as a simple-minded gardener who, through strange happenstance, becomes a powerful voice in Washington. For Scott, the lure was appreciating the work of six-time Oscarnominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel—his future father-in-law.
