Veteran Vespa Club Rally (Late summer to the west of Ireland)

September 14-18, 2023

I love the VVC rallies, my favourites ones are where we venture a little bit beyond our borders. I’ve attended rallies in France, Belgium and Southern Ireland previously; it’s more of an adventure and feels like a holiday.

STEERAGE

We set sail from Liverpool to Dublin on an overnight freighter – basic, but functional and it met our time restrictions. Achill Island was our destination, which is an Island off the west coast connected to the rest of County Mayo by a bridge.

SHAMROCK

Base for the event was Achill Seal Caves Caravan & Camping Park in Dugort, north of the island. We arrived early and luckily the caravan we’d booked was ready.

Several early arrivals had already beaten us to the site and once Shane and PJ arrived and settled in, we all headed to the Mastersons Bar and Restaurant,
