Pick Me Up!

KILLER IN THE KITCHEN

Kind Brenda Powell was known for her big heart.

And working as a child life specialist in the hematology oncology unit at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio, she certainly had a lot of love to give.

Her selfless dedication to the sick children she helped over the years, being a shoulder to cry on when they needed it and celebrating every success, left a lasting impression on their families who said she always went ‘above and beyond’.

Outside of work, she was devoted to her husband Steven and two children, Sydney and Andrew. Brenda’s kids were the light of her life.

When Sydney graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in 2018, she was a star pupil – an honour student with a 3.8 GPA, and captain of her high school soccer team.
