NEW HEAD OF CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES

Industry veteran Wang Zhiqing was appointed as chairman of China Eastern Airlines, one of the country’s top three airlines, the company announced on October 9.

Wang, 57, has spent most of his career in the aviation industry. He became deputy administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2014. From 2019 to 2021, Wang served as vice minister of transport. Prior to his new post, Wang was deputy secretary general of the State Council.

Headquartered in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines boasts an aviation transport network covering 1,088 destinations in 184 countries and regions, and runs more than 100 domestic and overseas branch offices.
