The Ford Performance Centre, located about a 15-minute drive from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, is a 272,000 square-foot recreation facility in Etobicoke, Ontario that features four ice rinks, including the official practice facility for the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, plus one IIHF Olympic-sized rink.
The Centre also is home to several partners and tenants, including the NHL Alumni Association, Hockey Canada Regional Centre and the Etobicoke Dolphins Girls Hockey League.
And then there’s the Hockey Hall of Fame D.K. (Doc) Seaman Hockey Resource Centre, housed on the second floor without a hype sign on the entrance door or a banner on the wall to brag about what is housed inside.
This is Hockey Heaven.
The Hockey Hall of Fame in downtown Toronto features about 30 percent of the items owned by the Hall. Most of the other 70 percent are stored in the Resource Centre, unless on display temporarily elsewhere around the world.
