FEW brands have the cachet of Maserati, but despite being one of the most aspirational car companies, its cars have rarely been truly competitive. They’ve often looked appealing and had plenty of power, but in terms of technology and build quality, more mainstream luxury brands have generally left Maserati’s cars in the shade.
When the GranTurismo was launched, it was largely impressive, but by the time production ended a dozen years later, this sleek GT had become outdated. However, while Maserati has a reputation for building cars that can be less than bullet-proof, the GranTurismo tends to be reliable if well maintained, so as with any premium car, make sure it has full service history.
History
THE GranTurismo arrived in November 2007, with a 400bhp 4.2-litre V8. The GranTurismo S followed in May 2008, with a 434bhp 4.7-litre V8 and stronger
