NetherRealm has successfully turned back the clock on its flagship fighter, crafting a solid pseudo-reboot that serves as both a satisfying followup to the dense, lore-filled story of MK 11’s campaign and a surprisingly approachable entry point for newcomers. The stripped-down side-modes and lack of overall innovation may disappoint, but it’s hard to komplain too much in the face of a story campaign that’s just this good.

This single-player offering is by far the strongest part of the package, and from the very first cutscene everything about its presentation simply oozes style.
