The year is 2012 and my pilgrimage to the Lake District has just begun. After a quick visit in an exceptional autumn focused my attention the year before, a return to this spectacular mountainous region was inevitable. I have travelled up with my good mate Justin, whose Mercedes estate is now filled with black bags, tripods and Gortex.
