October painting challenge

Colour was the theme for our October Art Club Challenge, and it was interesting to see how many readers chose to use a limited-colour palette. Beatrice Phillips used just two colours for her watercolour of Elvis the while Jane Bagshaw's subtle painting of poppy and verbena seedheads from her garden used three. Linda Robson also chose a limited palette to good effect for her detailed watercolour, (above right). At the other end of the scale, we had some riotously-coloured floral paintings by Helen Bailey, Jean Deval, Sharon Tiernan, and this humorous watercolour by Philip Judd (above), which captures all the full-blown glory of the English country show.
