Sunset for Golden Era!

The fourth and final round of the Golden Era Lightweight Championship took place on August Bank Holiday Sunday at the Tonfanau Circuit in Mid Wales.

Over the 12 race series for 50cc and 125cc machines the 125 class was dominated by Dave Edwards (Warrington) riding his ultra-reliable, ultra-quick ex-Gary Dickinson Yamaha TA. Dave had 12 wins earning him a maximum 120 points. Steve Nugent (Abergavenny) took second riding either his SUMAC Yamaha or the Hardwick Maico.

But it was in the 50cc class that the leader board was changing after each round. Mike Connell (Kawasaki AR), Mike Theaker (Gilera), John Harrison (Garelli) and David Clarke (Honda SS50) were swapping first to fourth positions until the fourth round showdown.
