LL THE YEAR’S FULL MOONS HAVE. The Woodcock Moon, also called Hunter’s Moon, occurs in early November or late October and honours the now-controversial practice of hunting migratory woodcock, wading birds that fly overnight from northern continental Europe to winter in these mild islands. Their ‘falls’, as the arrivals are known, traditionally occur around this full moon.
