Peaky Blinders

Company: Great Escape Games
Size: 28mm ‘foot to eye’ or 31mm tall
 Era: Interwar Gangster
Price: £20.00 for seven gangsters and rules cards
www.greatescapegames.co.uk

“On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man, In a dusty black coat with a red right hand” … The Peaky Blinders comes to the gangland fighting game of The Chicago Way. This is an apt addition to the range as among the Blinders’ foes were American gangsters. There are seven models in the pack including the Prodigal Son (armed with a SMG), one armed with a Lewis gun (!) and another with a shotgun. Four other pistol armed gangsters make up the set. Each has a likeness to one of the characters from the TV series. The models are well cast in metal with only a few pour lines to clear upon the base. The models are slightly on the heroic side, but they should fit with most existing ranges. Apart from the The Chicago Way, I can see these being handy for Cthulhu games and as insurgents – I would even say IRA for Irish Independence games, but the Peaky Blinders really would not like that! Was that a knock on my door?

Knights of the Round Table

Company: Temple West
Size: 28mm ‘foot to eye’ or 32mm tall
 Era: Early medieval
 Price: $16.00 for five miniatures
www.templewest.co.uk

Recently, Temple West ran a Kickstarter for Dan Mersey's Knights of the Round Table, bringing the Arthurian legends to life, and to the tabletop. Dan, is of course, the author of Songs of Arthur and Merlin and, Lion Rampant 2 and advised on the accuracy of this range. The range consists of Arthur, his knights (Yvain has his lion), their enemies, Mordred, the Green Knight, brigands, and some of the fantastical beasts they encountered, such as the giants Gog & Magog, and the Cat of Palug. The models are dressed in 13th century armour, which is approp riate, as this is the time when the Tales of Arthur were popular amongst the courts of Europe, and how most people would imagine them. The models are extremely detailed and well-cast, the bases will need a bit of cleaning to get rid of the pour lines. This is an excellent range, mid-sized for 28mm so compatible with most existing ranges. Hmm time to dust off my copy of Chaosium's Pendragon RPG!
