OK, I had fitted the cylinders last time (June issue) and now I turned my attention to the cylinder head and a few storage boxes.
As usual, cleanliness is a must; engine assembly lube will save the cam bearings and lobes from scoring when the engine is turned over and all tools and parts were at hand before starting.
First I installed all valves, collets, followers and springs in their original places; note that these springs have coils closer together at one end than the other, and the heavier coiled end should be fitted against the head face. All these ‘progressive’ springs, whether in suspension or similar, should be fitted with.
