Rationalised range
The launch of the Austin Metro in October 1980 was preceded by a rationalisation of the 21-year-old Mini range, with the Clubman saloon and 1275GT both discontinued. The remaining three-car line-up comprised the Mini City, Mini HL and Mini HL Estate, the latter being a rebadged version of the old Clubman Estate.
