TIMELY ADVICE

Q I have a Jaeger-LeCoultre pocket watch, stamped on the back with an arrow (War Department) and the digits 6E/50 above A14007. Can you provide me with any details of the history of this timepiece, and advise me where I could have it cleaned and repaired?

PMW, Surrey

The broad arrow on the reverse indicates it was military issue and the 6E/50 was the Air Ministry issue code for observers’ watches 1939-45. The A14007 was the watch issue number.) has a register of repairers.
