PRESSURE-PACKED PUNCH
In the first part of this article we looked at how Rory uses his transition to set up a powerful ball-turf strike. But of course the strike still has to be administered… and Rory creates it through ensuring the handle of his golf club leads the head through the strike zone. This builds forward lean into the shaft, which has two important implications for the strike:
■ It guarantees a downward attack angle, promoting a clean, crisp strike and allowing a clubface designed with loft to pile pressure into the ball.
■ It delofts the clubface, effectively turning an 8-iron into a 7-iron.
