Bailey of Bristol has launched its first-ever campervan. The new Endeavour is based on the Ford Transit and will have its public debut at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham (17 to 22 October).
MMM is the first magazine in the world to have tested this all-new model – see the full review on page 109, which also has details of how to watch our exclusive video of this important new British-built campervan.
The first model in the new Endeavour range is the two-berth, sub-6m-long Endeavour B62, which features a rear lounge with twin facing sofas that convert into beds at night. It is expected to cost just under £70,000 (exact prices will be confirmed at the October show) and will be joined soon after by the four-berth B64, which will have a pop-top roof and a front lounge and will also be under 6m long.
Both models have an MPTLM of 3,500kg, meaning that they can be driven by anyone holding a full standard UK driving licence.
Bailey partnered with Ford Pro to develop this new range and buyers will get the more powerful 155bhp diesel engine coupled to Ford's latest six-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Buyers will get a fully specified cab, which includes twin captain's seats, a 12in touchscreen infotainment system, air-conditioning and cruise control all as standard.
Other features include a Thule 3.5m wind-out awning, a flyscreen for the exterior sliding door and a Truma 100W flexible solar panel.
Before its launch, theextensive testing, including in extreme cold conditions at Alde's Climate Centre facility where the Endeavour was subjected to external temperatures of -15 degrees Celsius, while the inside of the campervan was measured to ensure it maintained a temperate of +20 degrees Celsius (heating and hot water is courtesy of a Truma Combi diesel system).
