If Marin county, just out of San Francisco, is the father of mountain biking, Vancouver’s North Shore is its caring mother!
This is where mountain biking was nurtured by a group of enthusiasts into a world-wide sport. Beginning on the forestry roads, fire breaks and natural forest parks above the city the trail builders developed single tracks, bridges and wooden cat walks in order to span boggy areas and creeks. In doing this mountain biking developed from hurtling down fire roads to specialist trails where complex structures were developed including rock rolls, drops, skinny
