Control the type of ads you see on websites
Despite a couple of delays, Google is still planning to phase out cookies in Chrome by the end of 2024 in favour of its own Topics system. Chrome 115, which was released 12 July, implements the first stage of Google’s plan by adding new privacy settings that let you control (to some extent) the types of ads you see on web pages.
You may have seen a pop-up message about ‘Enhanced ad privacy in Chrome’ when you updated the browser. If not, you can access the new options by going to Settings then ‘Privacy and security’, and selecting ‘Ads privacy’. If that option isn’t listed, click Privacy Sandbox, switch on Trials and restart the browser.
