Getting started with drones: case study

Somerset-based John Wickes started using drones in 2017, after his son introduced him to the technology. A former IT consultant, John used the money from his retirement present to fund his first drone, the DJI Air. Six years on, John still regards himself as a beginner, but is now much more confident, and has learned some valuable lessons along the way.

‘I don’t have a background in stills photography, but living here in the West Country, I wanted to make the most of the beautiful local countryside,’ John explains.
