Winning letter

“Resilience” was certainly the theme of this week’s issue (NZWW, October 9) and the would know all about that stirling quality. From the first issue in 1932, our country’s most-read weekly magazine has held on in the challenging publication world. Even Covid couldn’t keep you out of production for very long. I like the way you celebrate local heroic women like Barbara Dreaver (above) and Mel Homer. But your Weekly People story featuring Emma Consedine, the brave cancer crusader and solo mum to two gorgeous boys, is the one that will touch a lot of hearts. I especially like her new-found philosophy “I’m learning a new way of living. And it’s better.” Now that’s an outlook that can be applied to a lot of
