Lighting an… ENTRANCE
“The front entry is your opportunity to make an instant statement,” says Marie Botsis-Premici, co-founder and director of The Montauk Lighting Co.
“Long hallways and high ceilings are a great opportunity for repetition. Smaller spaces or those with lower ceilings can still have their moment – choose a decorative flush-mount ceiling light. If you have a doubleheight void, go big. Play with the space, accentuate the volume and be bold with your choices.”
Mandi agrees that you should go beyond the basics here. “The biggest mistake I see is that people think they’re limited to just having pendants along the centre of the front hallway,” she says. “People tend to have a lot of decorative pieces on the walls in this area and they haven’t highlighted those. Lighting the walls can also make this space look bigger without actually adding to the footprint.”
There was a TikTok sound trending not too long ago that went, “I don’t have
