It's a decade now since Hornby introduced a P2 for OO gauge, in the form of No. 2001, , in original 1934-built guise. In many ways, it was an outstanding model, but suffered from being a product of the ‘design clever’ era. It resulted in the likes of moulded-on handrails. However, at the price (especially in ‘Railroad’ mode) it was, and remains, exceptional value. Hornby's latest manifestations owe something to the original, but they're far superior
