THREADS OF DEVOTION

Grey clouds loomed over the sky as I stood on the grounds of The Glen Grant distillery, nestled in Scotland’s Speyside region, on a cold July morning. Just as I hoped that it wouldn’t rain, the brand’s longest‑serving master distiller Dennis Malcolm remarked, as if reading my thoughts: “Today’s rain is tomorrow’s whisky.”

Rain is a cause for celebration in the world of whisky; it is water, after all, one of the three key ingredients in whisky‑making. It also feeds River Spey, was one of just a few select guests invited from across the globe to witness the unveiling of the distillery’s latest and oldest expression since its founding in 1840: The Glen Grant Devotion 70‑year‑old.
