RASCHARDT Williams was born in 1952, in Salt River, Cape Town. At the age of 6, he and his family relocated to Durban.
Williams attended Parkhill High School. He participated in athletics and rugby, and drew inspiration from sprinters such as Kenny Roman, Tommy Smith and John Carlos, especially for their iconic black power salute at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico
